Detailed itinerary
Day1: Travel to Akagera National Park
Rise up early in the morning to enjoy your cup of tea or coffee and later, you will be picked up by our company representative. Start your journey to northeastern Rwanda to Akagera National Park about 2 to 3 hours in a good 4×4 drive safari car. Get to Akagera National Park early enough and check in at the lodge for lunch and have some rest.
In the afternoon you have a launch trip via Lake Ihema which lasts for about 2-3 hours but rewards you with astonishing sights at hippos, crocodiles, water birds plus variety of savanna dwellers that roam around the lake shores.

Day 2: Full day game viewing in Akagera National Park
Your day will commence with delicious breakfast and after, you have a morning game drive along the Northern side of Akagera National Park. A game drive allows you to immerse yourself in the savannas of this beautiful wilderness area with a chance for you to see buffaloes, Masai giraffes, zebras, African bush elephants, birds, lions, antelopes like topis, elands, impalas, roan antelopes to mention but a few. This game viewing experience takes you about 2-3 hours and after, you will get back to have lunch.
At 2:00pm, you have a launch trip along Lake Ihema which gets you a chance to spot out hippos, crocodiles, water birds especially the shoebills, fish eagles, kingfishers.

Day 3: Drive to Volcanoes National Park

Day 4: Gorilla trekking in Volcanoes National Park
Today, your day commences with an early morning breakfast and later, connect to Kinigi park headquarters to be briefed on the set guidelines to be followed while on gorilla trek. The park official will assigned to you a gorilla group to trek in a group of 8 visitors and at 8:00am, you will begin the search for these large apes in the wild.
A trek to view mountain gorillas in this park may take you about 2-6 hours depending on where they are, your speed of hiking and nature of habitat. Since this adventure requires some physical wellness, don’t forget to come with some packed energy giving snacks and bottled water. Once you get your gorilla family, you have an hour of photography and learning their behaviors.
After, you will return to the lodge to enjoy the rest of your day, dine and spend a night ready for the next activities the following day.

Day 5: Iby’Iwacu village visit and Gisenyi
